Action Centres UK

You can rest secure in the knowledge that all our activities operate to the highest safety standards and conform to national Governing Body codes of practice.

Our Centres co-operate closely with Environmental Health Departments and the Health & Safety Executive to ensure that our operations fall within the requirements of current legislation. Action Centres UK is an Associate member of the British Mountaineering Council (BMC) and an Organisational Member of the Institute for Outdoor Learning (IOL). We give our full support to the Activity Centres (Young Persons Safety) Act 1995 and Adventure Activities Licensing Regulations 1996 and will abide by it. Please contact each Centre individually or call the Licensing Authority on 029 2075 5715 to confirm license details.

'Examples of our commitment to safety include:'

  • A minimum of one instructor present at each activity session on or off site, holding a current first aid qualification.
  • Radios and/or mobile phones are taken by instructors for off-site instructed sessions.
  • All mini-buses have forward facing seats with three point seat belts and head restraints.
  • Centres providing activities within the scope of the Adventure Activities Licensing Authority (AALA) are licensed.
  • Centres whose activities do not fall within the scope of the inspection scheme prepare their documentation/safety standards to the level required for licensable activities in readiness for a voluntary accreditation scheme.
  • See our Action guide for more information.
