The Ranch in the Heart of Snowdonia

The Ranch Outdoor Discovery Centre exists to offer young people opportunities for exciting residential experiences all year round in the heart of Snowdonia - with an emphasis on personal discovery, education, safety and fun!

Originally opened in 1974, with new accommodation built in 1990 and extensively re-furbished and extended over the winter of 2002/3. The Ranch nestles into a beautiful wooded hillside overlooking Cardigan Bay. The exact location, three miles. South of Harlech is just outside the coastal village of Llanbedr. A few miles inland are the wild and unspoilt Rhinog Mountains with Snowdon and Cader Idris approximately fifteen miles to the north and south respectively.

Extensive golden beaches are within a few minutes drive and numerous other attractions in the area, together with Ranch based activities, provide a wealth of programme options. The Ranch is ideal for school and student groups and all kinds of youth groups including those with special needs. Furthermore, The Ranch is ideally located for environmental science field trips with a wide diversity of natural habitats both on site and in the immediate area.

The Ranch is set on eleven acres of south west facing wooded hillside with panoramic views. The grounds contain wild rock crags, ponds, mountain streams and are criss-crossed with footpaths—it is a wonderful place to explore. The centre also has its own hard court sports area with internal re-bound walls and netting making it ideal for all kinds of ball games.
